In 2014, after a conversation with a friend about the dearth of truly suitable eyewear for creative professionals, Blake Kuwahara launched his eponymous line. As a trained optometrist and established designer who had already shaped the creative direction for brands like Kata and Coach, Kuwahara sought to fill a void in the market.
He wanted to create frames that were “artful but wearable.” The result was a collection that defied convention. By treating the frame not as a single object but as a layered composition, he introduced a new architectural language to eyewear.
